The shofar. A sound that pierces my heart and brings me to tears. All the voices in my head from moments before - did my prayer accomplish anything in heaven? Have I been forgiven? Did I do enough to prepare? - go quiet. It’s a sound, not something that needs to be rationalized - just pure sound that goes straight to the soul. May all those celebrating the Jewish holidays use the month of Elul - the month of preparation to reconnect with Gd when He is most accessible, to reconnect with ourselves by being our most vulnerable and to reconnect with each other by being our most compassionate.
